It's 7pm - we're all back at the apartment and winding down from the day.
Frankie and Derek are both in their own PRIVATE rooms and resting comfortably. Frankie is feeling great and the celebrity of the hospital. All the nurses LOVE him and everyone has asked about our "Frankie Saves" shirts.
Derek is coherent and hanging out in his room making his classic dirty jokes.
We're taking pictures and actually having fun.
Thank you so much for your prayers!

Frankie and Derek are in!!
UCSF is great, why, because they have free wireless so I can keep you all updated through the day!!!
Right now both boys are in surgery.
Frankie went into the O.R. at 8am, happy and free rambling on and enjoying his drugs.
They time the surgery so the kidney comes out of Frank and spends the least amount of time as possible out of a body.
Around 8:45 they rolled Derek into the O.R. and true to his nature, had the nurses laughing as he went.
We should be hearing on Frank's status soon!!

Good Morning.
It's bright and early Friday morning.
Finally, surgery day is here!!
I just wanted to take a quick minute before we all walk down to UCSF to ask one last time for all your prayers and positive energy.
I'll keep you all updated as things progress.

Tomorrow is the Day
I love the tee shrit! (A Frank Chezam Design)
Sunday's party was fantastic! The love and support from everyone there was so sincere. I am sure everyone has tomorrow's surgery on their mind and is wishing us the best. I am feeling very relaxed, actually, about everything and I will tell you why.
1. UCSF is the leader in this procedure world wide, Derek's surgeon is the Chair for the Department of surgery and has been performing transplants since 1964. My surgeon is Dr. Kang, he is a young talent that has had no complications on his record for the 8 years hes been doing nephrectomys.
2. So many people are sending us prayers and positive thoughts, Derek's family is so grateful and my family is very proud.
3. The generously given donations have lessened financial burdens, this is something that was such a concern for me, and thanks to our wonderful com unity, I no longer have to focus on a tight budget.
4. My dad is here now, My mom is on her way over to help care for me. Ryan has been more helpful then he knows.
5. The humanity involved, not just with my gift of a kidney, but the genuine interest in our well being from the doctors, family, and friends is profound.
With all these factors in place I feel confidant in my choice and I am ready. Thank you so much everyone. Amy will be updating this site immediately with news of our recovery.

Cross Your Fingers...
Well, we've hit our first snag...
As of this morning the surgery will be postponed. Of all the people in the world to get sick this week - Derek was the one it happened to.
This DOES NOT, i repeat, DOES NOT mean the transplant will not happen - it just means it will be postponed until Derek is completely healthy again. We don't want to take any risks in the kidney rejecting...
So take a minute today and send your positive thoughts Derek's way...

Where Almost There.....
Frankie Here,
Well it is not too much longer! Derek and I have a pre-surgery meeting on the 21st in San Francisco with the Surgens and our Transplant Coordinators. Thinking about this gathering and realizing the team of people around us: doctors, nurses, my family, Derek's family, our friends, those who wish us well, it just shows true human compassion. I cant help but be moved by it. The fund raising party is less than a week away; when I see everyone there I will feel such a swell of support.
I find it fascinating that so many people are affected, touched, and sincierly showing their interest in our well being. Please feel free to leave comments or ask any questions. Sometimes I think people want to know more about me if they are not familiar, or if you don't know Derek ask about him! It would be fun and I find this inspiring.
Thank You!

It's so wonderful to see ALL the people that have come from all around the US to help Frankie and I! It means so much to us to see all the support we have gotten. There really is Good People out there!
I'm sure you all have seen the news report online or live on News 10. At the time of the interview there was a question that was asked about; How I really feel about Frankie giving me his kidney? Right then and there it hit me like a ton of bricks...What he was doing and giving to me. All of a sudden I Realized how Real this all is and how soon it was going to happen.
He is giving me my life back, one I lost almost three years ago!
I have another chance to live NORMAL, and enjoy the things I once use to.
Because of him I can be human again. How LUCKY I am to have someone like Frankie in my life. Even my Cowpie (Amy) having her working her hardest arranging this fundraiser and updating our blogs. She's always been there for me, helping me get through my emotional break downs. I love these two weirdo's as if they were my own family!
